Batting woe continues – Puducherry loses against Uttarakhand

It was yet another day to be forgotten as the batting woe continuing for Puducherry, against Uttarakhand in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match played at Airforce Complex Ground, Palam. Having won the toss, Uttarakhand chose to bat first and scored 141 for 6 in 20 overs. Though the score was 65 for 4 in the eleventh over, Uttarakhand shifted gears to score 76 runs in the remaining 9.2 overs to set a defendable target. Opener Rajat Bhatia scored 30 in the company of top order and the no.6 batsman Vijay Sharma scored 30 off 25 balls and no.5 batsman Shivam Khurana scored 25 off 25 balls, which were vital for Uttarakhand.

With a modest target of 142, Puducherry started once again disastrously and lost 3 wickets in five overs. The most consistent scorer Paras Dogra scored 53 off 42 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes, in the company of Thalaivan Sargunam, who scored 26 off 25 balls, which were not sufficient as the wickets were falling regularly and Puducherry was 131 for 9 off 20 overs and lost the match by 10 runs. Uttarakhand bowlers Sunny, Hinmanshu Bisht and Sunny Kashyap took 2 wickets each.
