Batting woe continues – Puducherry loses to Uttarakhand

Choosing to bat first, in the Womens Cricket U-23 One Day League, played at KIIT Cricket Stadium, Bhubaneshwar, the consistency of the top order of Uttarakhand displayed a good show and scored 246 for 8 in 50 overs. Opener Ankita Dhami scored 48 off 81 balls while Megha Saini scored a timely 56 off 79 balls and Kanchan Parihar scored 42 to boost the score; followed by tail enders with good support. Puducherry bowler Payal Balmik took 3 for 35 off 10 overs.

While chasing the target of 247, with Ramya Maharajan, the openers dismissed for 1 and immediately followed by no.3 batsman T.Reena dismissed for duck, Puducherry struggling at 2 for 2, the other opener Moumee Sasmal played a sheet anchor role with the skipper Sandhya Mounika to build a good recovery with a partnership of 61 runs and when the skipper was out for 39, the collapse started and Puducherry was all out for 84 off 38.5 overs. Uttarakhand skipper Rekha and Radha Chand took 4 wickets each and Pooja Raj took 2 wickets. Uttarakhand won the match by 162 runs.
