Toying with Sikkim Attack, Gurvinder Singh Scores unbeaten Century (101 n.o.) – Pondicherry U-23 too Strong for Sikkim

Pondicherry batsmen went on free hitting against the weak Sikkim attack in the Mens U-23 One Day Trophy played at KIIT Cricket Stadium, Cuttack. Going at six runs an over from the word go, the openers were separated when Akash Anand Kargave was dismissed for 20, when the score was 48 in the eight over. From there on, the tempo was maintained by the rest and particularly the no.6 batsman Gurvinder Singh went on rampage against the Sikkim attack to take the score to 300 for 9 off 50 overs. For Sikkim Parth Teekam Singh Palawat took 3 for 54 off 10 overs.

Quick Fire Unbeaten Ton by Gurvinder Singh:
Coming in at no.6, Gurvinder Singh straight away showed his aggression and superb timing with the rest giving him a good support and strike. Gurvinder was merciless against all the bowlers of Sikkim as he reached his century with seven fours and six sixes, with a strike rate of 136.48 which took Pondicherry to post a healthy score of 300 for 9.

With a big target of 301 to win the match, Sikkim started well with the openers putting on 31 runs in the ninth over, when Bahadur Chettri was dismissed for 6. However, the rest failed succumbed to the pressure and Sikkim was bundled out for 100 off 35.5 overs.

Gurvinder Singh and Saranth shine with the ball:
After scoring an unbeaten century, Gurvinder Singh displayed a good bowling to return with figures of 3 for 18 off 7.4 overs with a good support from Abhijeeth R. Saranath, who also took 3 for 12 off 5 overs which helped Pondicherry to win by a margin of 200 runs.
