Yash Jadhav’s Century (153) puts Pondicherry in Command – Rain Disrupts Pondicherry’s Pursuit to Victory Against Sikkim

Col. C.K.Nayudu Trophy 2019-20 : Pondicherry Vs Sikkim (SLIMS Cricket Ground)

Puducherry, 12-15 Dec’19:
As the rain clouds were around and the decision of choosing to bat first against Sikkim was well embraced by Pondicherry top order batsmen and the century by opener Yash Jadhav justified it.

Yash Jadhav’s patient knock – the highlight of the day
Opening partnership of 116 runs between Yash Jadhav and Manikandan, scoring 45 off 132 balls, was crafted by mature approach by the former when the no.3 batsman Paras Ratnaparkhe joined him and produced another good partnership; realizing 88 runs for the second wicket. Not disturbed by the fall of quick wickets at the other end, Yash Jadhav went on to score after completing his century to score 153 off 231 balls with 23 boundaries and Pondicherry was all out for 374. Sikkim bowler Harit took 4 for 55.

Sikkim started with the opener Avinash Rajak dismissed for naught and the small partnership of 40 runs for the second wicket and 50 runs for the fifth wicket did not produce any big turnaround as they were dismissed for 128 in the first inning. Pondicherry bowler Akash Kargave took 4 for 8 with good support from Santhosh Kumaran and Sidak Singh who took two wickets each.

Following on with a deficit of 246 runs, Sikkim started disastrously with the loss of three wickets for 13 runs on the board. However, the fourth wicket partnership of 90 runs between Md. Saptula, who scored a valuable unbeaten half century to remain not out on 50 off 96 balls and Harit, who scored 48 off 66 balls brought some respectability to the score as the match was drawn with the score 114 for 4.
