After being put into bat and having lost the opener Pretika Chettri for naught, recovery was next to impossible for Sikkim in the Womens Cricket U-23 One Day league, played at Ravenshaw University Ground, Cuttak, as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Sikkim opener Nandita was the lone fighter, who took 144 balls to score 38 and was just watching the fall of wickets at the other end. Sikkim was 95 for 9 off 50 overs. Puducherry bowlers Payal Balmik, Rebecca and Moumee Sasmal took 2 wickets each.
While chasing the target of 96, Puducherry was stunned by the loss of Reena for naught. However, Moumee Sasmal (22 off 51 balls) and Ramya Maharajan (33 not out off 79 balls) took the score to 54 for the second wicket when the former was dismissed and Puducherry sailed through comfortably to score 96 for 4 off 28.4 overs to win the match and gain 4 points.
