Women’s U-23 One Day Trophy 2019-20 : Pondicherry Vs Manipur (Ravenshaw University Ground-1)

With a perfect strike rate of hundred, Sonal staged a gory display against Manipur and scored a power packed century with a range of strokes to compliment her innings in the Women’s U-23 One Day Trophy match played at Ravenshaw University Ground-1, Cuttack.
Sonal’s aggressive innings
Pondicherry openers Sonal and Nandhini had an opening partnership of 98 runs when the latter was out for 37, only to be continued by the former with more aggression in the company of others. The second wicket partnership of 105 runs between Sonal and Divya Shanmugam (19) was built at good pace, which was followed by skipper Sandhya Mounika’s knock of 47 off 45 balls. It was an innings played with strokes to all parts of the ground by Sonal with a flurry of boundaries that worried the opponent as her innings of 136 off 136 deliveries was packed with 24 boundaries. However, with the second top scorer being Mr.Extras with a contribution of 56, Pondicherry finished with a commanding score of 299 for 4 off 50 overs and set a target of 300 for Manipur.

After a belligerent knock of 136, Sonal staged another attack against Manipur, but, this time with the ball, dismissing the opponent batswomen with very little time for them to realize what was happening at the middle. With no way to resist the onslaught, Manipur was all out for 35 off 24 overs. Sonal returned with splendid figures of 6 for 11, which was well matched by Divya Shanmugam, who returned with 3 for 6 to win the match by 264 runs.
