Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019-20 : CAP Vs Meghalaya (Wankhede Stadium)
Mumbai, 09 Nov’19:
Put into bat by Meghalaya, the lukewarm opening partnership of Pondicherry openers was left to slip away by the top order when skipper Rohit left for 8 after a sedate start. However, the experience of K.B.Arun Karthick came in handy with his free flow of strokes and quick fire knock of 73 off 58 balls with five fours and two sixes in spite of regular fall of wicket at the other end. Pondicherry put on 126 for 6 off 20 overs.
Collective effort of Pondicherry bowlers wins the match:
With very moderate target of 127 for a win, Meghalaya was handed a jolt with top three batsmen dismissed with the score reading 14 for 3. However, the fourth wicket partnership of 74 runs was posing a threat to Pondicherry before Sagar Udeshi ended the partnership by dismissing Sanjay Ramsingh Yadav for 31 in the 18th over when the score was 88 and it was a well knit attack to control the flow of runs by the bowlers from thereon to restrict Meghalaya to 107 for 6 off 20 overs. Pondicherry won the match by 19 runs.
