Womens Under-23 T20 Trophy 2019-20 : CAP Vs Mizoram (Siechem Stadium)
Puducherry, 12 Nov’19:
Choosing to bat first, Pondicherry openers S.R.Mounika and Sonal Patil were simply on rampage and unstoppable in the Womens U-23 T-20 Trophy match against Mizoram, played at Siechem Stadium, Puducherry. Particularly, Sonal Patil showed the glimpse of power play and scored 88 off 66 balls with 15 boundaries and her partner S.R.Mounika displayed aggression with lovely stroke play and remained unbeaten on 61 off 53 balls with five boundaries and a six. Pondicherry’s openers S.R.Mounika and Sonal Patil were very close to creating a record of not being separated when Sonal Patil was dismissed off the third (19.3) delivery of the 20th over and Pondicherry finished their innings with the score 168 for 1.
Tough target makes Mizoram start shaky:
After the onslaught of Pondicherry openers and posting a tough target of 169 for a win, Mizoram openers were too cautious to keep wickets in hand, which led to succumbing to the pressure as the opener S.R.Kumari could score only 11 off 32 balls while her partner scored only 6 off 36 balls, by which time the innings was almost half way through with only 10 overs remaining. Further, quick fall of wickets led Mizoram to finish with the score 53 for 6 off 20 overs and Pondicherry won by a margin of 115 runs.
