KSCA South Zone Tournament for Under-14 Boys : Pondicherry Vs Goa (Golden Oval)
Alur-2, 30 Jan’20:
After Goa won the toss and put Pondicherry into bat, Pondicherry lost opener Sai Satwik and no.3 batsman Raghavan with the score showing 20 for 2. However, the no.4 batsman Kushwanth Silora went after the Goa bowlers in the company of opener Arun Sarwan and put on 115 runs for the third wicket when the latter was out for 40 off 125 deliveries with four boundaries. With the fall of Eshwar Rithvik for naught, the score was 135 for 4 when Hemanth Rathi joined Kushwanth to carry on the attack. Hemanth Rathi took time to settle and scored a responsible 34 off 59 deliveries and Kushwanth Silora carried on his aggression against Goa bowlers with good timing and scored a valuable 147 off 159 deliveries with 16 boundaries and one six to take Pondicherry’s score to 238 for 7 declared off 62.4 overs.
Pondicherry bowlers took the turn
After declaring at 238 for 7, Pondicherry bowlers launched a united attack against Goa and removed both the openers for naught. After the third wicket partnership of 55 between N.N.Nagvekar (22) and D.D.Pagvi (32), only no.5 batman Abishek Diwadkar scored 34 off 59 deliveries and Goa were eventually dismissed for 121 in their first innings and finished with the 11 for no loss in the second innings after being asked to follow on. Pondicherry won on the first innings lead. Pondicherry bowlers Kottana Naresh, Atchayan, Jaswanth K and Arun Sarwan took two wickets each.
