In the league cum knockout tournament of the BCCI for Men’s U-23, Puducherry missed a modest target against Manipur, played at Vikash Cricket Ground, Bhubaneshwar. Manipur won the toss and chose to bat first. Though they lost the first two wickets early, the top order worked out well and had the score moving easily. Opener Abhishek scored 33 off 67 deliveries and Aman scored 54 off 81 balls, while Langlonyamba scored 35 off 48 balls and Nitesh 37 off 32 balls, which took the score to 216 all out in the allotted 50 overs. Puducherry bowlers Vengat took 3 for 38 off 7 overs and Sidak Singh took 3 for 26 off 10 overs.
With the modest target set by the opponent, Puducherry had a faulty start with the opener George being run out for 2. With Raghu scoring 33 off 23 balls with Paras Ratnaparkhe 22 off 55 balls and Akash Kargave 20 off 13 balls the going was good, but with the fall of Sai and Satish Jangir both out for naught the collapse started. With the wickets falling at regular interval, and a small resistance from Sidak Singh, who scored 39 off 51 balls, Puducherry was all out for 136 off 30.1 overs. Manipur bowler V.A.Yadav took 4 for 14 off 7.1 overs.
