In the second match of the Men’s Cricket U-23 one day league and knockout tournament, played at Ravenshaw University Cricket Ground, Cuttak, the charged up Puducherry team changed the gears quickly to come back and run on the winning track against Mizoram.
Having been put into bat by Mizoram, who won the toss, Puducherry had a bad start with both the openers falling cheaply. The number three batsman Paras Ratnaparkhe (31 off 43 balls) and Sidak Singh’s quick fire 38 off 47 balls, followed by Arun; who scored 35 off 49 balls, took the team to 159 all out off 43 overs. Mizoram bowler A.Kumar took 4 for 37.
When Mizoram started their innings, with a modest score to defend Puducherry bowlers took the responsibility to restrict the opponent. With only Parvez, who scored 23 and Dinpuia scoring 17, there was no resistance from Mizoram batsmen against Puducherry attack. With Santhosh Kumar taking 3 for 14 off 8 overs, Akash Kargave taking 3 for 16 off 7 overs, while Sidak Singh 2 for 6 and Satish Jangir 2 for 9 shared the rest, Mizoram was all out for 63 off 37.1 overs. Puducherry won the match by 96 runs and 12.5 overs to spare to gain 4 points in the tournament.
