As the saying goes “Each day is different” and “the victorious moment of yesterday is not found today”, after winning the match against Mizoram on Friday, Puducherry Men U-23 team found itself off that track and lost to Bihar in the Men’s Cricket U-23 one-day league cum knockout tournament played at Ravenshaw University Cricket Ground-1, Cuttack, on Monday. Bihar won the toss and chose to bat first and though they lost the first wicket early, the top order pushed the score through. Opener Anmol Bonny scored 30 off 36 balls in the company of Satish Kumar, who scored 55 off 76 balls with six fours and a six. Though after the exit these two, the next three batsmen were dismissed cheaply, the number eight batsman Shabbir Khan scored a quick fire 62 off 64 balls (7 fours and 2 sixes) to take the score to 214 for 9 off 50 overs. Sidak Singh took 3 for 37 off 10 overs and Akash Karghave took 2 for 29.
Once again, in pursuit of a modest total, Puducherry was off to a disastrous start as the first seven wickets fell with the score reading 41 for 7 in the 12th over and only Satish Jangir (35 off 67 balls) and Abhijeet Saranath (24 off 55 balls) put some fight and eventually Puducherry was all out for 112 in the 39th over. Bihar bowler Satish Kumar and Animesh took 3 wickets each and Vikhas Jha took 2 wickets.
