Uttar Pradesh, who won the toss and chose to bat first, in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, played at Airforce Complex Ground, Palam-II, was off to a good start with the openers sailing smooth and lost the first when the score was 48 off 5.2 overs. However, the brisk knocks by Priyam Garg (54 off 30 balls) and Rinku Singh (29 off 10 balls) guided Uttar Pradesh to post 179 for 4 off 20 overs.
Chasing a tough target, Puducherry started disastrously and was 9 for the loss of 3 wickets in the third over. Though there was a good partnership between Paras Dogra (22 off 15 balls) and Thalaivan Sargunam (17 off 28 balls), the aggression by Fabid Ahmed (25 off 30 balls) and Thamarai Kannan (25 off 34 balls) were not sufficient and Puducherry was 102 for 6 off 20 overs and lost the match by 77 runs.
