Akash Karghave shines with bat and ball – Puducherry wins against Meghalaya

The simultaneous performance with the ball first and bat next in the chase, Akash Karghave almost won the match single handed for Puducherry against Meghalaya in the Mens Cricket U-23 One Day league & Knockout tournament, played at KIIT Cricket Stadium, Bhubaneshwar. Having won the toss and choosing to bat first, till the fall of fifth wicket, with the score reading 112 in the 28th over, Meghalaya was sailing smooth. However, after the dismissal of P.Rohit, who scored 53 off 84 balls, Meghalaya crumbled and lost five wickets in the next six overs and was all out for 131 off 34 overs. Akash Karghave took 4 for 31 off 8 overs and Sidak Singh took 4 for 19 off 7 overs, who were well supported by the wicket keeper George, who took a noticeable work behind the stumps taking 3 catches.

In reply, openers Akash Karghave and Paras Ratnaparkhe sealed the match without being separated. Akash Karghave scored 70 off 81 balls Paras Ratnaparkhe scored 55 off 59 balls. Puducherry scored 133 off 23.2 overs to win the match by 10 wickets.
