Anagha propels Puducherry Win against Sikkim

Puducherry Senior Women’s team comfortably won the one day league against Sikkim, played at Cuttack. Sikkim won the toss, chose to bat first and scored 198 for 6 off 50 overs. For Sikkim, Aananya Upendran scored 92 off 117 deliveries with 10 fours. The opening partnership of Sikkim was looking solid till Sunita Rai was out for 37 when the score was 105.

Set target of 199 to win, when P.D.Acharya jolted Puducherry by consuming both the openers Latika Kumary for 1 and Ramya Maharajan for a naught, and were staring at 12 for the loss of 3 wickets, prominent and consistent scorer Astalakshmi (30 off 60 deliveries) stood firm to build a partnership of 84 runs for the fourth wicket with Anagha, who went on to score a solid century (114 off 102 balls) was supported by Gouher in an unbroken partnership of 103 runs to continue Puducherry’s winning streak.

With this win, Puducherry, has four wins out of five matches played so far and stands second in the points table of plate group with 20 points and thus having a good chance to finish at the top of the table to move to elite group.
