Women’s Senior One Day Trophy 2019-20 : Pondicherry Vs Manipur (CAP Ground-3)
Puducherry, 19 Feb’20:
Beginning the Women’s Senior One Day Trophy clash with a winning note was a pleasing one for Pondicherry. Having been put into bat by Manipur, openers Latika Kumari and Tamore started well to take the score to 31for 1 when Latika Kumari was dismissed for 17. However, Tamore had useful partnership for the second wicket with Karuna Jain and no.4 batswoman Divya Shanmugam, though both could not put a big individual score. However, Tamore had a good support when Radhi came in and built a partnership of 66 runs for the fourth wicket. In an attempt to score her century, Tamore got herself in trouble and lost her wicket when she was just three runs short of the magic figure as she was dismissed for 97, containing twelve boundaries. The loss of Tamore did not bother the no.5 batswomen Radhi, who scored a timely 54 off 62 balls with six boundaries to take Pondicherry score to 215 for 5 off 50 overs.
Beginning with a target of 216 for winning the match, Manipur started disastrously when the opener Manganleima was dismissed for 2 by Janaki and Chingkei was run out for 5 and the score board showing 8 for 2 in the sixth over. However, except skipper Ganga, who stood firm and scored 39 off 87 balls, could only be a spectator when the wickets were falling at the other end without any resistance as Manipur was all out for 105 as Pondicherry won the match by a margin of 110 runs. Pondicherry bowlers Divya Shanmugam returned with 3 for 10, while Astalakshmi and Radhi took two wickets each.
