Bangalore, 19 Mar’21 (09.00 AM):

For the first time in the Womens Sr. One Day Trophy, after the lockdown, Pondicherry bowlers found resistance from the opponent in the form of Mizoram women’s team. Choosing to bat first, Mizoram was going well with a partnership of 58 runs for the first wicket, but at a low strike rate. This led the Pondicherry bowlers to regroup and restrict the opponent to 185 off 50 overs. For Mizoram, the only quick scorer was Buley Ruchita, who scored 74 off 71 balls, with rest of the batters taking time to settle and eventually ended up with a score of 185 for 6 off 50 overs.

In reply, though Pondicherry was going well, the quick loss of top five batters, Pondicherry was in a spot of bother. However, Karuna Jain took charge and scored a quick fire 74 off 81 balls, but could not find support from the other end as the wickets were falling at regular interval, leading her fighting knock to go in vain. Mizoram bowlers seized the opportunity to end Pondicherry innings with the score of 170 all out off 49 overs to register their victory.
