Col C K Nayudu Trophy 2019-20 : Pondicherry Vs Manipur (Bengal Cricket Academy Ground)
Kalyani, 18-21 Dec’19:
When bowlers are on cloud nine, moderate total is good enough for an innings victory as proved by Santhosh Kumaran and Sidak Singh in the Col. C.K.Nayudu Trophy match against Manipur, played at Bengal Cricket Academy Ground, Kalyani.
Santhosh Kumaran devastates Manipur camp:
After putting Manipur into bat, Santhosh Kumaran struck in the third over of the match to dismiss Manipur skipper Karanjit for naught and thereon simply devastated the opponent with no resistance against his fury. With a very good support from the other end, Santhosh Kumaran returned with dream figures of 15.4-8-22-8 to bundle Manipur for 90 in their first innings.
In reply, Pondicherry proceeded with tiny partnership, which was well guarded at one end by Akash Karghave, who scored 81 off 85 balls with 11 fours and two sixes. All-rounder Sidak Singh scored a valuable 52 off 101 balls while R.Ashwin scored a patient 41 off 90 balls to take Pondicherry score to 255 all out in the first innings with a lead of 165 runs.
Sidak Singh strikes and Manipur loses the plot mid-way
Starting the second innings with a deficit of 165 runs, Manipur was sailing smooth until the third wicket falling at 57. However, from thereon, it was the repeat of their first innings as this time Sidak Singh struck to reduce them to 84 for 8 at one stage and Manipur was eventually dismissed for 111 in their second innings. Pondicherry won the match by an innings and 54 runs with 7 points to it’s tally. Sidak Singh returned with figures of 6 for 40 with an economy rate of 1.82.
