Karnataka wins championship of South-Zone Inter-State U-16 Girls Cricket Tournament (2018-19)

In the first year of its recognition and affiliation with the BCCI, the Cricket Association of Pondicherry conducted the South-Zone Inter-State U-16 Girls Cricket Tournament (2018-19) (30 overs a side) for the year 2018-2019 at the newly built gorgeous CAP-Siechem Cricket Ground at Tutipet, Pondicherry. The tournament commenced on 11th January, 2019 with seven southern states participating in it.

The tournament witnessed a tough fight among the upcoming youngsters of seven states and being a new born state, Puducherry put up a show with good young talented players. However, being a new state in the learning curve, it is quite obvious that the host Puducherry was subdued to be a learner and prepare for the next edition taking good experience in the course of the tournament.

The finals was played between, Karnataka State Cricket Association and Andhra Cricket Association at CAP Siechem Cricket Ground, Tutipet. Karnataka won the final of the tournament and the championship of the year 2018-2019 in a convincing style. Andhra Cricket Association was the runners-up.

The Awards presentation ceremony held on Saturday, the 19th January, 2019 at Crystal Hall, Hotel Accord, Puducherry, was compered by Ms.Pooja Damodaren, who also welcomed the Chief Guest Tmt.S.Sundari Nanda, IPS, Director General of Police, Puducherry, to preside over the event and give away the awards. Mrs.Padma Damodaren, Sponsor of CAP and Chairperson of Siechem Group, the President of CAP G.M.Arunkumar and Mr.V.Chandran, Acting Secretary gave away the mementoes and medals.

Tmt.S.Sundari Nanda, IPS, Director General of Police, Puducherry, presented the Championship Trophy received by Karnataka State Cricket Association captain Chandasi Krishnamurthy.

Presented the Runners-up Trophy received by Andhra Cricket Association captain Anusha.

Among other awards, Joint Best Batswomen was presented to S.Swathi of Tamil Nadu and Krishika Reddy of Karnataka. Best Bowler award was presented to CMC Najila of Kerala.

Yuvashri of Puducherry and A. Eloski of Tamil Nadu were presented Joint Best All-rounder awards.

Nikki Prasad of Karnataka was presented the Player of the Tournament and Best Fielder award.

P.Pallavi and S.Sai Lakshmi of Andhra, M.Mamtha and N.Kranthi Reddy of Hyderabad, C.Sushanthika of Tamil Nadu and Ibtisamshaik of Goa were presented “Promising Cricketers” award in the South-Zone Inter-State Women’s U-16 Tournament for the year 2018-2019.
