Middle Order Collapse Trigers Pondicherry’s First Loss against Arunachal Pradesh

In spite of two good partnerships at the top order, Pondicherry’s middle order collapse led to a moderate total of 200 all out against Arunachal Pradesh in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy match played at Siechem Stadium, Puducherry. Put into bat, Pondicherry started well and after the exit of Ayan Bangar with the score reading 29 for 1, there was a good partnership of 69 runs for the second wicket between Shashank, and Shreeraj. After the exit of Shashank, who scored 48 off 89 balls with seven fours and one six, there was again a valuable partnership of 59 runs for the third wicket between Shreeraj and Arbaaz Uddin. With the fall of Shreeraj, who scored 50 off 86 balls, Arbaaz Uddin followed him with the score reading 157 for 4 and from there the collapse started and Pondicherry was all out for 200 off 49 overs. For Arunachal Pradesh, Yorjum Sera took 4 for 54 off 10 overs.

Attack loses direction midway:
Defending the moderate total of 200, Pondicherry attack looked good initially with two quick wickets. However, it was not enough to control the middle order of Arunachal Pradesh, who started scoring comfortably. The ninth wicket unbroken partnership of 35 runs between Dol (36 off 58 balls) and Bhardwaj (14 off 20 balls) took them across the winning post. With patchy partnership in the middle order and the tail, Arunachal Pradesh reached the target and won the match with the score 204 for 8.
