Col C K Nayudu Trophy 2019-20 : Pondicherry Vs Mizoram (SLIMS Cricket Ground)

The young bowlers of Pondicherry Santhosh Kumaran and Pooviarasan started with a bang when they removed the top three batsmen of Mizoram in the Col.C.K.Nayudu Trophy, played at SLIMS Cricket Ground, Puducherry, which was a readymade scenario for Sidak Singh, who is among wickets throughout this season.
Choosing to bat first, Mizoram were off to a disastrous start when their openers Thanzuala and Marty were dismissed for naught and was followed by no.3 batsman Rohan with only 8 runs were on the board. Except Lalhriatrenga, who score 27, there was no resistance as Sidak Singh wrapped up the middle order of Mizoram with 3 for 23, who was equally matched by Santhosh Kumaran with 3 for 22, while Pooviarasan took 2 for 18 as Mizoram was all out for 72.
Paras Ratnaparkhe, the architect of Pondicherry innings
After the initial loss of both the openers with the score reading 37 for 2, the unperturbed No.3 Paras Ratnaparkhe occupied the centre and displayed the art of building an innings in the company of Yash Jadhav as the third wicket partnership of 199 runs. Paras Ratnaparkhe continued drilling the Mizoram bowlers with free flow of strokes and rotating the strike to give his partners free hand to unleash their attack. Yash Jadhav missed the opportunity of scoring a century when he was out for 82 off 135 balls with the score reading 226 for 3. With a good support from Sai, who scored 47 off 138 balls and was involved in the fourth wicket partnership of 122 runs. Then, for the fifth wicket Sidak Singh joined the party and scored a quick fire 46 off 35 balls as at this stage Paras Ratnaparkhe was out for 195 scored off 217 balls with nineteen fours and two sixes. Pondicherry was all out for 449 with a lead of 377 runs in the first innings.
Sidak Singh suffocates the opponent
With a huge first innings deficit of 377 runs, Mizoram started their second innings also in the similar way of their first innings and lost top half of the team to find itself hapless at 19 for 5. Sidak Singh unleashed a ferocious attack against the opponent before they could even realize what was happening around them as the wickets were falling like house of cards. Sidak Singh returned with a rich haul of 7 for 28 to take his tally to ten wickets in the match. With Mizoram’s second innings being wrapped up for 81, Pondicherry won the match by an innings and 296 runs.
