Women’s U-19 One Day Trophy 2019-20 : Pondicherry Vs Sikkim (KORM College Ground)
Kadappa, 26 Feb’20:
What a lovely day out for Amruta Saran as if all the eleven players of Pondicherry are Amruta Saran. When Sikkim chose to bat after winning the toss, opener Nandika and Pretika Chettri were dismissed by Amruta Saran as the score was still at 31 for 2. After the other opener Sumi Dutta was dismissed for 21 by Aarti Gautam caught by Amruta Saran, there was a good partnership of 43 runs for the fourth wicket between Dhanashree, who scored a timely 50, caught by Amruta Saran off the bowling of Subiktsha and Anushka 26, run out by Amruta Saran and the next wicket Pranita was out for 12 lbw to Amrta Saran. However, this recovery was not carried on by the rest and Sikkim finished at 137 for 6 off 50 overs. Thus, in all the dismissals of six wickets, Amruta Saran had her role in all the dismissals and created a sense that she is everywhere by magic as she also returned with 3 for 20.
Chasing a moderate target of 138, though Pondicherry lost Nithya before she could open her account, when the score was 5, the second partnership of 56 runs between Yuvashri and Roshini took the score to 61 for 2, when the latter was out for 29. From there on, the third wicket partnership of 78 runs between opener Yuvashri, who scored an unbeaten 57, with ten fours, and Heena Hotchandani, unbeaten on 33, took the team to 139 for 2 to win the match by eight wickets and gain 4 points to remain on top of the table.
