Puducherry displays good fight against Tamil Nadu

In the second match of South-Zone Inter-State Under-16 Girls’ Cricket Tournament, the host Puducherry was let down again by poor batting the match against Tamil Nadu as the batting failed once again. Tamil Nadu, who won the toss, chose to bat first, was in a shock when they lost the first wicket off the first over of the match when Yuvashri dismissed Eloksi Arun for naught. Swathi, batting at No.4 steadied the innings and scored a brisk 59 off 65 balls with six fours and she was the last batsman dismissed when the score was 127 off the first ball of the last over of their innings. Tamil Nadu posted a healthy score of 137 for 5 off 25 overs.

“Yuvashri continues her wicket taking spree”

The Puducherry bowler Yuvashri continued from where she left in the match against Hyderbaad to return with figures of 7 overs 3 for 42 with the same niggling problem of extras conceded. The three wicket haul against Tamil Nadu, takes her tally to 8 wickets in two matches.

With a tough target of 135 to win, Puducherry started with an early loss of opener Amrutha Saran Satsangi for naught. The other opener, Lavanya gave company to Yuvashri for the second wicket, but, when she was dismissed the next wicket fell immediately as Rishashri was dismissed for 7. Tamil Nadu bowler Mrinalini took 2 for 13 off 5 overs. With only Roshini Rajasekaran (16 off 31 balls) displaying some resistance, others falling apart, Puducherry scored 97 for 8 off 25 overs and Tamil Nadu won the match by 37 runs.
