Puducherry loses way on the third day

Resuming the third day with the score 224 for 6, Puducherry lost it’s way and was all out for 286 of 98.2 overs. Apart from Paras Dogra’s 144 and S.Karthik’s 81, there was no worthy contribution from others and hence Puducherry conceded a lead of 181 runs. For Nagaland, Abrar Kazi took 4 for 62 and Imliwati 3 for 57 while Pawan Suyal took 2 for 85.

With a first innings lead of 181, Nagaland could not find the same rhythm of what they had in the first innings and were 3 wickets down for 47 at onstage and the ship was steadied by Zhimomi scoring 63 with 4 fours in the company of Nitesh who scored 47 off 106 balls with 5 fours. Abrar Kazi scored a quick fire 60 off 58 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes. For Puducherry, Pankaj Singh took 3 for 61 off 15 overs and the skipper Rohit took 2 for 45 off 14 overs.

Awesome fighting spirit and character, but the inevitable draw to end the season
With a target of 404 to win the match in less than three full session, Puducherry started with a jolt when they lost Saiju for 4. However, S.Karthik scored 55 off 128 balls with 8 fours in the company of M.Viknesh, who scored 64 off 126 balls with 8 fours, took control of the situation to save some pride. The consistent scored Paras Dogra displayed once again his experience and scored a valuable 50 off 75 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes in the company of Rohit (17 not out) and with the score at 208 for 3 the match ended in draw. Puducherry gained 1 point to stand third in the points table of Plate Group.
