Choosing to bat first in the Mens Cricket U-23 One Day League and Knockout match, played at Ravenshaw University Ground-1, Cuttack, against Puducherry, the advantage of batting first was lost by Sikkim as the top order was dismissed cheaply and only to find themselves struggling at 5 for 61 in the twenty-first over. Then the partnership of 35 runs between Deepak Mahato (41 off 70 balls) and Aamir (34 off 52 balls) and a small partnership for the 7th wicket between Aamir and Dinesh Kumar Dhobi (26 off 56 balls) took the team to a defendable total. Sikkim was 154 all out off 46.3 overs. Puducherry bowlers Santhosh Kumaran (3 for 24), Buvan (3 for 23) and Sidak Singh 92 for 25) were among the wickets.
In reply, with an opening partnership of 87 runs between Raghu (32 off 36 balls) Akash Kargave paved the way for easy chase. Akash Kargave scored a quick fire 50 off 40 balls with 8 boundareis and Paras Ratnaparkhe (26 off 34 balls) ensured the much needed win and Puducherry reached the target with more than 19 overs to spare the score 160 for 4 to gain 4 points.
