Sheldon Jackson’s Knock goes in vain Pondicherry loses to Haryana

Put into bat, Pondicherry lost opener Rohit for 12 in the fourth over, but no.3 batsman Sheldon Jackson showed the youngsters the way to attack when the team needs by scoring a quick fire 82 in the company of No.4 batsman Paras Dogra after the departure of opener Fabid Ahmed (4) in the seventh over.

SHELDON JACKSON’S TIMELY KNOCK

In the 9.3 overs shared between them, Sheldon Jackson posted the first half century of Pondicherry batting line up.  Sheldon Jackson scored a typical knock of his own to reach 50 off 32 balls and eventually was out for 82 off 50 balls with 5 mighty sixes and 8 fours to take the team to 142 for 4 in the last over of the innings.  His partner Paras Dogra scored a brisk 32 off 30 balls with two sixes and a solitary four.  However, though the score of 148 for 4 looked defendable, the bowlers were looked upon to deliver. Chasing a target of 149, Haryana was handed a shock when the opener Bishnoi was dismissed off the first ball of the second over when the score read 7 for 1.  When the pressure was there on Haryana, it was not capitalised by Pondicherry bowlers to restrict the flow of runs and the opponent went on scoring freely to reach the target (149 for 4) with an over to spare and to win the match by six wickets.
