Sidak Singh Receives “M.A.Chidambaram Award” for Highest Wicket Taker in 2018-19

Mumbai, 12 Jan’20:
Pondicherry U-23 left arm off-spinner Sidak Singh won the “M.A.Chidambaram Award” of BCCI awarded for best bowler in the Col.C.K.Nayudu Trophy for the year 2018-19, presented at the BCCI Awards function, held at Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai, on 12.01.2020.

Sidak Singh was chosen as “Best Bowler” of the year 2018-19 for his stellar performance of taking 63 wickets in Col.C.K.Nayudu Trophy. In his effort to achieve this fete, he played in eight matches, bowling 300 overs overall, out of which 100 overs were maidens. He conceded 799 runs in the process of taking 63 wickets with an economy rate of 2.50. He has also taken 5 wicket haul four times and 4 wickets on three occasions and a memorable achievement of 10 wicket haul in an innings.

“The Jewel” of his performance
Being the strike bowler of Pondicherry U-23 team, Sidak Singh achieved one of the rarest of rare fete; of taking “Ten Wickets in an innings”, not achieved by many in the early stage of one’s career. The “Jewel” of his career was his incomparable and dream haul of 10 for 31 with an economy rate of 1.77 in an innings against Manipur.

The award was received on his behalf by his father Mr.Gurvinder Mahendra Singh, at the hands of former India test opener Virender Sehwag as Sidak Singh was away; playing against Nagaland.
