The prolific and Mr. Dependable Neyan Kangayan who started off by scoring a half century against Hyderabad, and a fluent 90 against TN, finally scored a dazzling 122 against Kerala.
In as many as three matches he had an enviable record of 303 at an average of 101. Adding a feather to his cap, he scored an unbeaten triple ton against Goa, creating history as the only player to do so in Vijay Merchant Trophy. It is worth a mention that the 302 runs that he scored was a gritty one, which came in 490 deliveries without having conceded an opportunity to the Goan bowlers or fieldsmen to get him out. He is the 3rd highest run-getter in the Vijay Merchant Trophy with one match remaining to be played.
