What a performance in deed! With an outstanding performance of winning all the nine matches in the Plate Group, Pondicherry Women’s Under-19 Team, with 36 points in the, qualifying for the knock-out stage of Women’s Under-19 One Day Trophy 2019-20, has marched into the Elite Group for the next year.
While winning all the matches, the most creditable point of the team’s achievement is that it maintained the net run rate also at a very good level of 1.857, which means that the win in all the matches have been achieved with the batting performance clicking at right time. Whenever, Pondicherry batted first, good score was put on the board and the bowlers came to the fore defending the score by bundling the opponents or restricting to win with a good margin and vice-e-versa, while chasing the target after the bowlers controlling the opponent, the batters complemented the bowlers with grace.
With skipper Yuvashri standing no.4 in the top scorers table of the tournament this year, with 320 runs off the nine matches, bowlers Amruta Saran and Subiktsha have come good with 18 and 15 wickets respectively in the tournament, to lift the morale of the team to put a fight in the knock-out level.
Being a new born baby and only in the second year of it’s participation as a full-fledged member of the BCCI, a remarkable fete has been achieved by the Women under-19 team with it’s righteous entry into the Elite Group.
