Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20 : CAP Vs Chandigargh (Kasiga College Ground)
Dehradun, 07 Oct’19:
S.Karthik Shines with the Bat:
Chandigar was in no comfort right from the start after being put into bat by Pondicherry in the Vijay Hazare Trophy match played at Kasiga College Ground, Dehradun. After the loss of opener Arun Azad for naught, Chandigarh skipper Manan Vora was also dismissed for 1 for a rare style of dismissal “obstructing the fielder”, the wickets fell cheaply, but for the resistance from Uday Kaul, who scored 34 off 63 balls and Jaskarandeep Singh (36 off 42 balls), there was not a noteworthy partnership to build the innings.
Pondicherry bowler Sagar Updeshi returned with figures of 3 for 29 off 10 overs, who was well supported by Vinay Kumar (2 for 20 off 9 overs) and Sagar Trivedi (2 for 36 off 8.3 overs) to restrict Chandigar for 152 all out off 45.3 overs.
In pursuit of a modest target of 153, Pondicherry openers put on 65 for the first wicket, when K.B.Arun Karthick was out for 34 off 25 balls with six boundaries and one six. With the other opener S.Karthik going almost at run a ball, was well supported by skipper D.Rohit, who scored 28 off 40 balls with two fours and one six, realising a partnership of 67 runs for the second wicket. After the exit of Rohit when the score was 132, it was a mere formality for the pair of S.Karthik, who remained unbeaten on 70, with 11 boundaries, and Paras Dogra to take Pondicherry to 155 for 2 off 26 overs and to win the match by 8 wickets.
