The first semi-final of Byju’s Pondicherry T20 Tournament produced the right quality and expected character of the shorter format of cricket. Put into bat, Tuskers XI put on a healthy score of 187/4, led by Akash Anand Kargave (59), P.Kumar (41), and P.Thamaraikannan (37). In return, paid by the same coin, Panthers XI started with Priyam Ashish’s lusty hitting in the company of skipper D.Rohit taking the opening partnership to 59 off 5.5 overs when Priyam fell for 38 off 21 balls. No.3 batsman Ameer Zeeshan took over from where Priyam left with more aggression, who was joined by Iqlas Naha, another aggressive batsman. The third-wicket partnership produced 119 runs off 70 balls. Ameer Zeeshan hit a whirlwind 71 (6 fours, 5 sixes) off 39 balls, followed by Iqlas Naha 51(2 fours, 4 sixes) off 37 balls taking Panthers to 189 for 3 off 19 overs and win by seven wickets. Ameer Zeeshan was declared man of the match.
