Batting Collapse Leads Pondicherry to Lose against Bengal

Womens Under-19 One Day Trophy 2021-22: CAP Vs Bengal (Vidarba Cricket Association Stadium)

Jamtha, Nagpur, 30 Sep’21:
Choosing to field proved costly for the Pondicherry Women U-19 team as Bengal piled up 271 for 4 off 50 overs in the first Womens Under-19 One Day Trophy match played at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur. Though Pondicherry bowlers had early success with the dismissal of Opening batter Dyuti Paul for 7, her partner Bristi Maji, who scored 62 off 74 balls, took the score to reach 120 for 2 when she was dismissed by Amrutha Saran. The No.3 batter Mamani Roy scored 64 off 96 balls with no.4 batter Sneha Gupta (39 off 42 balls) and Priti Mondal (40 off 49 balls) getting along freely and Bengal put on 271 for 4 off 50 overs.

In reply, except for No.3 batter, Roshini, who scored 43 off 98 balls, Pondicherry went through a batting collapse with only No.7 batter S.Rupashri reaching the double-figure (10), only to be followed by extras (15). Eventually, Pondicherry was dismissed for 84 off 42 overs, leaving Bengal to win by 187 runs.
