Batting Woe Continues – Pondicherry Suffers Heavily against Mumbai

Vijay Hazare Trophy (2020-21): Pondicherry Vs Mumbai (Sawai Mansingh Stadium)

Jaipur, 25 Feb’21 (09.00 AM):

Having won the toss and electing to field for the second consecutive time in the Vijay Hazare Trophy did not work out for Pondicherry to work out the strategy to reach the target while playing second as the bowlers let loose the Mumbai skipper to score a record breaking score of 227 off 152 balls, followed by Surya with 133 off 58 balls, with a supporting role by Aditya Tare (56 off 64 balls) as Mumbai amassed 457 runs with the loss of only four wickets. Chasing a Himalayan target of 458 for a win, Pondicherry lost two quick wickets with opener S.Karthik and Sheldon Jackson back in the pavilion with individual scores of 9 and 4 respectively. The bright spots of Pondicherry innings was skipper Rohit’s knock of 63 off 68 balls and Sagar Trivedi’s 43 off 25 balls was not enough to put up any semblance of fight against the mammoth target as the rest of the batsmen could not do much against the mammoth target of 458 and Pondicherry was all out for 224 off 38.1 overs.
