In the Women’s Cricket Under-23 T-20 League and knockout format between Puducherry and J & K, played at Saurashtra Cricket Association, Rajkot, Puducherry won the match comfortably by 10 runs. J & K won the toss and put Puducherry into bat first. Though the start was not smooth for Puducherry, who lost the opener Ramya Maharajan for one, the partnership between the opener and Kushboo Verma took the score to 38, when the second wicket fell.
With able support from Payal Balmik (16 off 14 balls) and Moumee Sasmal (18 off 18 balls with 4 fours) the opener Sandhya Mounika continued her good form to score 55 off 59 balls with 9 fours to take Puducherry to 113 for 4 off 20 overs.
J & K started their innings smoothly as the openers were separated when Sonika was dismissed for 21 when the score was 34, but with the addition of one run, Bisma Hassan was dismissed for 13 and with the regular fall of wickets, J&K was 66 for 6 at one stage. For the seventh wicket there was a partnership of 31 runs between Iqra Rasool (28 off 24 balls with three fours) and Heena Kouser to take the score to 97 when the seventh wicket of Iqra Rasool fell and the formalities were completed shortly. J & K was all out for 103 off 19.4 overs. Puducherry won the match by 10 runs and two deliveries to spare. For Puducherry, Kushboo Verma took 2 for 22 off 4 overs and Moumee Sasmal took 2 for 17 off 3 overs while Payal Balmik, Soundrya and Janaki took one wicket each.
