Puduchery has posted the successive innings victory with a margin of 159 runs in their fourth match of the season in the Ranji Trophy against Sikkim, played at Wayanad.
After declaring the first Innings at 647 for 8, with a double ton (253) by Paras Dogra, and good contribution from D.Rohit (59), Fabid Ahmed (99) and Saju Chothan (81), Puducherry restricted Sikkim for 247 in the first Innings. Earlier, the stand of 285 runs was ended when M.Viknesh was out for 78. M.Viknesh played a sheet anchor role with a knock of 78 off 161 balls with 10 boundaries, which gave full freedom to the no.3 batsman Paras Dogra to go on rampage.
For the third wicket, skipper Rohit joined Paras Dogra to add 101 for the third wicket. Rohit scored a patient 59 off 93 balls with 6 fours and a six. Pankaj Singh and skipper Rohit took 3 wickets each in the first innings of Sikkim.
With a huge lead of 400, Puducherry asked Sikkim to follow on. Again Pankaj Singh struck in the first over to remove the opener Bibek for a naught. After the fall of second wicket at 79, Puducherry ended the 3rd day with the second innings of Sikkim at 105 for 3. On the last day, Abishek Nayar, the veteran bowler, finished with a haul of 5 for 76 to restrict Sikkim to 241 all out. Puducherry won the match by an innings and 159 runs Paras Dogra was declared the Man of the Match. With this victory, Puducherry earned 7 points including the bonus point to climb to the third spot in the plate group points table.
